Dan Pierce is a great friend of mine and a former colleague. Many of you will have seen Dan play several times in Billericay as a support artist at my ‘Gigs in the Garden’ and at both Saint Mary’s and Emmanuel. However, I’m pleased to say that is about to change as Dan will be playing (what could possibly be) our final House Gig at the Rectory on Friday 27 October 2023 at 19.30 hrs (Doors at 18.45 hrs). I can’t think of anyone I’d want to conclude 15 years of amazing ‘revpacman promotions’ here in Billericay than Dan.

Drop me a line if you’re interested – if there is a large uptake we might move this into Emmanuel and reduce the price.

Dan has been writing songs and playing live since he was a boy and has played with Gloucestershire band Big Blue Sun and The Lamplight Poet Folk Collective in Teesside alongside The Mildly Dynamics (Ben and Annabel!) in Essex. Among his influences are Neil Young, Rayland Baxter, Beth Orton, Damon Albarn, Ben Harper and Bruce Springsteen.

Dan recently recorded an album of original material Mindful Systems with George Moorey under the guise of DC Pierce and will be released in the autumn of 2023. Dan’s vocal and guitar parts were recorded in Courthill Chapel (Kishorn, Scotland) then other parts were recorded in different locations including Gloucester, London, California, Dublin and The Isle Of Skye and the album features contributions by Darragh Cullen, Sinead McConville, Phil White, Matthew Simpkins, Sam Fryer, Shane Young, Donald Livingstone, Murdo “Yogi” Cameron, Jaelee Small and Alex Chapman.

345252631_205276055633015_8702770947171448873_nDan describes his songs as ‘A slice of melancholy with a twist of hope!’ With themes including misfits, rogues and the triumphs of nostalgia. “I’m a happy person really!” Dan reflects on Graceless “This song is one of the more mellow songs and lyrically one of my favourites. Thanks to my boys for letting me share the video. I love it when they face plant! No one was hurt!”

About House Gigs

A House Gig provides a unique experience for both artists and audience in an intimate setting and is quite unlike any other gig you will attend. That’s why artists are always asking to come back! Some of my most favourite gigs have taken place in my lounge!

A House Gig is a private invitation to the Rectory from Paula and me. You can contact me on paul@revpacman.com if you’d like to be considered for a place and I’ll get back to you to confirm your attendance. Maximum two tickets per person – spaces are limited! I usually receive more applicants than places, but I do set up a reserve list.

Doors will open at 7.00 pm (or 6.45 pm if you’re so excited you can’t wait, or you simply want more drinking time!) and Dan will play two sets from 7.30 pm (ish!). We’ll provide some hot food during the interval (with a veggie option) all for the amazing price of £20 (payable in advance, please – I’ll give you details about how to pay when your invitation is confirmed). There will also be a reasonably priced honesty bar available!

NB. Given that Paula and I will be in the middle of packing boxes for our impending move to Cyprus, it might be that food will not be provided on this occasion.  If that is the case, the cost will be £15.00 pp.

Announcement

A House Gig is a cosy (!?) affair and, whilst we provide seating for most people, some of you will be required to sit on the floor – we’ll provide a comfy cushion for you (we have plenty of these) – so you might want to dress accordingly! Just so you know, we always encourage folk to swap around for the second set!

Please remember a House Gig is a listening event rather than a talking event. Do read the article below before you apply to come!

Shhh … there’s a band playing!
