Remembrance Sunday 2023 takes place on Sunday 12 November. There will be an Act of Worship at Emmanuel at 9.15 am (lasting 40 mins) when members of the Army Cadet Force and Royal Air Force Air Cadets join with us. May I encourage you, even if you are not a regular church attendee, to make a special effort to join with us on this most poignant of days?

The Act of Remembrance will take place at the War Memorial in the High Street at 10.50 am, when we gather with the Royal British Legion, members of the Armed Forces and Associations, Civic and Community Groups, Churches and Service Organisations, Businesses, Schools and Members of the Public. Music, as in previous years, will be provided by the High Voltage Big Band. If you wish to join the Parade to walk down to the War Memorial, please make your way to the Fire Station ready to leave at 10.35 am.

Service sheets will be distributed on the High Street by the Street Pastors. However, you can download a service sheet for the Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial here Remembrance Sunday – War Memorial – 2023

A Prayer for Remembrance Sunday

Ever-living God, we remember those whom you have gathered from the storm of war into the peace of your presence; may that same peace calm our fears, bring justice to all peoples and establish harmony among the nations, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

If you are unable to join us in the High Street, why not play this video at 10.59 am on Sunday or on Armistice Day (Saturday – the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month).
