STOP PRESS This gig is now sold out!

I’ve known Rob Halligan for many years – he is a friend, one of my favourite artists and is no stranger to Billericay! In fact, Rob performed at my first ‘Gig in the Garden’ in 2009 and we’ve enjoyed having him with us several times since then.

I’ve arranged for Rob to play a ‘House Gig’ here at the Rectory on Saturday 15 December 2018 as part of his autumn ‘We All Write The Songs Tour’.

About Rob Halligan

Rob is well known for using his music to raise awareness of small charities, working with some of the most vulnerable people, both at home and abroad, raising well over £30K in the process and this house gig is a charity fund-raising event.  All proceeds from this evening will be going, at Rob’s request, to Global Care and their Children at Risk project.

A professional musician for over 10 years, Coventry based Rob is an award winning singer/songwriter and has toured across the world, gaining a reputation as a passionate and engaging performer. Rob’s songs draw from his own experiences of life on the streets, of losing his father in the terrorist attacks of 9/11 and of the people he’s met on his journey. His songs challenge politics, complacency and faith and are delivered with brutal honesty, rough spirituality and tested to be true.

Rob has released seven albums and has made his mark on the unsigned music scene as an award-winning singer/songwriter. The BBC once described Rob as:

Bruce Springsteen having English tea with Billy Bragg!

It’s a good comparison, however, I think Rob has more than a few shades of Jack Savoretti meets Ricky Ross!  No pressure Rob!

Rob’s Song Hold You Tonight was featured in my Best Songs Of 2017 even though I only heard it for the first time when he played a House Gig here in November.  It was an instant classic!  There’s no video or live version of this song, however, if you click on the picture below you can listen to the track on Rob’s soundcloud. Taken from the album ‘One Day’ recorded in, quite appropriately, one day!

About House Gigs

A House Gig is a private invitation only gig to the Rectory from Paula and myself. You can contact me on revpacman@btinternet.com if you’d like to be considered for a place and I’ll get back to you to confirm your attendance. Maximum two tickets per person – spaces are limited! I usually receive more applicants than places but I do set up a reserve list.

Doors will open at 7.00 pm (or 6.45 pm if you’re so excited you can’t wait or you simply want more drinking time!) and Rob will play two sets from 7.30 pm (ish!). We’ll provide some hot food during the interval (with a veggie option) all for the amazing price of £15 (payable in advance, please – I’ll give you details about how to pay when your invitation is confirmed). There will also be a reasonably priced honesty bar available!

A House Gig is a cosy (!?) event and, whilst we provide some seating, some of you will be required to sit on the floor – we provide a comfy cushion (we have plenty of these) – so you might want to dress accordingly! We always encourage folk to swap around for the second set!
