I’ve been reflecting on The invention of Essex: how a county became a caricature ‘A long article’ by Essex boy in The Guardian

From Loadsamoney and ‘Basildon man’ to Towie and Brexit – Essex has long been held up as both the authentic England and the crudest, stupidest symbol of Englishness.

It’s an interesting, insightful, and sometimes provocative, article which is well worth a read (over a cup of coffee) about the County of Essex which has been my home for the last 18 years.

Would love to write a theological reflection on my experiences of ‘Essex man’ but I’m on sabbatical so that will have to wait for another time.
