I’m delighted to welcome back  Lauren Housley for a totally unexpected THIRD gig this year at Billericay Rectory, and my final House Gig of 2019, on Friday 6 December. It’s no secret that Lauren is one of my favourite artists, and a favourite of many of you too, and both Lauren and Tom have become good friends over the years.  One of the highlights of this year, for me, was the Chorlton Country Club in March and who can forget Lauren’s storming set at my Gig In The Garden 2019?

This is a more intimate gig than usual when Lauren will be accompanied by Tom Dibb.  They will be showcasing some new songs, along with amazing covers and Lauren Housley favourites. It goes without saying that we’re guaranteed an outstanding evening of live music.

About Lauren

Lauren is a native of Rotherham in South Yorkshire, but is now based in Manchester. She draws her influence from a wide range of music genres, with her emotive vocals steeped in Gospel, Blues and a unique blend of ‘Nashville’ flavoured soul with a hint of Americana and Roots, Pop and Rock and some killer covers thrown in for good measure.

An Americana-tinged singer-songwriter with a Bonnie Raitt style twang, a winning way with yearning lyrics. Housley is her own woman and when she turns glacially emotional on When Autumn Came, she’s as convincing as they come …. Sweet Surrender (album) smoulders. Blues and Soul Magazine

Lauren’s debut album ‘Sweet Surrender’ was one of my standout albums of 2015, filled with some brilliant original songs, written alongside long time creative partner Thomas Dibb (and now husband) that are honest, sincere and personal. A number of tracks ere play listed on Radio 2 by the likes of Chris Evans, Jeremy Vine and Bob Harris.

Lauren’s follow up album ‘The Beauty of this Life’ was released in the summer of 2017 and features the best of her limited edition album, and 6 new tracks. Laurel Canyon have labelled them world-class in an album review which you can find here. Don’t say I don’t bring quality acts to Billericay.

In 2018 Lauren released a critically acclaimed single ‘My Sleeping Heart’ (one of my favourite songs of 2018) which saw a much more American Country influence with the perfect blend of a traditional and modern sound. Not too unlike the SoCal sound of Sam Outlaw.

About House Gigs

A House Gig provides a unique experience for both artists and audience in an intimate setting and is quite unlike any other gig you will attend. That’s why artists are always asking to come back! Some of my most favourite gigs have taken place in my lounge!

A House Gig is a private invitation only to the Rectory from Paula and myself. You can contact me on revpacman@btinternet.com if you’d like to be considered for a place and I’ll get back to you to confirm your attendance. Maximum two tickets per person – spaces are limited! I usually receive more applicants than places but I do set up a reserve list.

Doors will open at 7.00 pm (or 6.45 pm if you’re so excited you can’t wait or you simply want more drinking time!) and Lauren will play two sets from 7.30 pm (ish!). We’ll provide some hot food during the interval (with a veggie option) all for the amazing price of £15 (payable in advance, please – I’ll give you details about how to pay when your invitation is confirmed). There will also be a reasonably priced honesty bar available!

A House Gig is a cosy (!?) affair and, whilst we provide seating for most people, some of you will be required to sit on the floor – we’ll provide a comfy cushion for you (we have plenty of these) – so you might want to dress accordingly! Just so you know, we always encourage folk to swap around for the second set!

Please remember a House Gig is a listening event rather than a talking event. Read Shhh … there’s a band playing!
