Casting Crowns have produced one of my favourite Christmas albums Peace On Earth but this song is taken from a Christmas EP they released a couple of years ago.  It sort of echoes the words Christina Rossetti wrote in the carol In The Bleak Mid-Winter when she asks the question:

What can I give Him, poor as I am?
If I were a Shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
If I were a Wise Man, I would do my part;
Yet what I can I give Him: give my heart.

It seems to me we can be so caught up with the busyness of the Christmas season that making room for Jesus is the last thing on our minds, We forget the one whose birthday we celebrate and, rather than him taking centre stage, he’s relegated to a dark corner buried underneath the pile of wrapping paper of opened presents when, actually, he’s the greatest gift we could receive. God’s Christmas gift of Jesus is worth opening and can be life changing – for all of us.
