21 OCTOBER 2022 Thank you to those of you who attended this event and for helping to keep music live in Billericay. FYI, from my proceeds, £500 proceed was given to the Purple Community Fund and £100 to Lighthouse Furniture Project
Ricky Ross is the songwriter and lead singer for Deacon Blue, one of Scotland’s best loved and most successful bands. I’ve been a fan for over 35 years. The first CD I ever bought was Raintown by Deacon Blue in 1987 – I have all of their albums, and all of Ricky’s solo albums, too, and I’ve lost count how many times I’ve seen them in concert over the years.
It goes without saying that I’m beyond excited to be able to announce that Ricky (or BillerRicky as he described himself in November 2017) will once again play in the intimate surroundings of Emmanuel Church, Billericay on Tuesday 11 October 2022 to finish off the tour with Hannah White in support.
TICKETS £27.50 plus fees – no concessions. Tickets go on sale at 9.00 am on Friday 4 February and can be purchased by clicking on the link below:
Following the release of 2020’s City Of Love, the Deacon Blue’s most successful album in 25 years, Ricky Ross releases his 8th solo album ‘Short Stories Vol. 2’ alongside an autobiography ‘Walking Back Home’. The album was recorded at home, then augmented with sumptuous strings and brass, alongside contributions from his fellow Deacon Blue cohorts Lorraine McIntosh and Gregor Philp, and will be released on CD, vinyl and digitally on 19 August 2022 (Cooking Vinyl).
The album and book will be supported by a tour in September & October 2022 with Ricky at the piano, playing beautiful venues around the country, presenting songs from across his entire career and sharing stories from his autobiography. Ricky Ross said:
In his memoir, Ross revisits his formative years growing up in Dundee, his early forays into music and the beginning, extraordinary success, fall-out, and re-emergence of Deacon Blue. Ross writes movingly and with great wit about the people and places that have meant the most to him, as well as his relationship with faith, politics, and the ever-changing challenges of being a musician.
A limited edition 12” coloured vinyl version of the album will be available to order alongside tickets for the tour and there will be an exclusive fan pre-sale for 24 hours before the general sale which starts at 9am on Friday 4 February.

STOP PRESS 13 MAY 2022 Hannah White has just been added as support to Ricky’s tour. Hannah’s 2020 album Hannah White and the Nordic Connections won rave reviews and a UK Americana Award nomination has toured and collaborated with some of America’s most revered musicians including Viktor Krauss (Robert Plant, Dolly Parton, Alison Krauss) & Grammy award-winning bluegrass giant Tim O’Brien. Significant acclaim was received for her previous album which was recorded in Bergen with her Norwegian band ‘‘The Nordic Connections’. Nominated for Best Album 2020, five star reviews poured in praising White’s vocals, emotion & intelligent lyrics citing her music as “honest and unflinching” (W21 Music, UK) commenting on “the restraint, the range, the softness, the clarity…all appropriately placed in delivering this masterpiece” (Fatea Magazine, UK) and naming it as “one of the best americana albums of 2020 (Musikk Nyheter, Norway”/ “One of the best albums of the year” (2ser Radio, Australia). Tracks from the self-titled release were picked up by BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music and added to 6 Spotify Official playlists; Hannah White headlined the Bergen International Americana Festival and earned herself a feature in Billboard Magazine. Her upcoming album: ‘About Time’ is a powerful collection of the most heartfelt Americana noir penned and produced by AMA UK award nominee, Hannah White; due for release in May 2022.

Ricky played to a sell out audience at Emmanuel just at the beginning of Advent in late November 2017 (hence the Christmas Tree in place!). You can read a Kirstie Bleakley’s review of this gig here
