UPDATE AUGUST 2022 Thank you or your support so far. I’ve currently sold 369 brooches at £5 each totalling £1845 (plus a £500 donation) which means I’ve been able to give £2345 to the Purple Community Fund towards sending a container of Medical Aid to Ukraine. I still have a number of brooches available if you are still interested (as does Cath in The Chequers!).
Many of you will remember that I spent part of my sabbatical in the summer of 2019 in the Philippines working with the Purple Community Fund.
The beautiful kind hearted mothers (Nanays) over there have asked how they can help families in the Ukraine because they heard about the war and heard families are now being forced to live like them. They decided they could crochet Sunflower Brooches, the National flower of Ukraine, to help PCF raise £5,000 to send a container of medical aid to the Ukraine from the UK. Isn’t it wonderful that Filipino moms want to help Europeans in this way?
Over 70 hospitals have been targeted and bombed in Ukraine and medical aid is desperately needed for the wounded. PCF have partners in Ukraine to send containers of medicines and equipment to the hospitals and health clinics out there.
I’m supporting Purple Community Fund by selling these brooches at £5 each. All proceeds going to the Ukraine. I have a supply here at the Rectory (40 Laindon Road) but hoping to have some in Emmanuel, Christ Church and Saint John’s churches and Saint Mary’s in Little Burstead.
I’m also pleased to say that Billericay Brewery and The Chequers will be stocking these too!
If you are a business in Billericay, or someone who think they could sell these to family and friends or work colleagues, please drop me a line and I’ll get some to you.
