In the name of Jesus Christ, I bless you with
the promises of God, which are ‘Yea’ and ‘Amen.’May the Holy Spirit make you healthy and strong in
body, mind and spirit to move in faith and expectancy.May you be blessed with spiritual strength
to overcome the evil one, to avoid temptation
and to turn from foolish and worthless things.May God’s grace be upon your home, so that it becomes
a sanctuary of rest and renewal, a haven of peace where
sounds of laughter grace its walls, where love and
unconditional acceptance of one another is constant.May God’s angels always be with you
to protect, guard and keep you.May your ears hear the lovely,
the uplifting and the encouraging.May your feet walk in holiness
and your steps be ordered by the Lord.May your hands be tender helping hands to those
in need and hands that bring blessing to others.May your heart be humble and receptive to one another
to do the things of God and not of this world.May your mind be strong, disciplined,
balanced and filled with faith.May God’s grace be upon you
to fulfil your dreams and visions.May you behold the beauty of the things
that God has planned for you as you obey
His word and delight yourself in Him.May goodness and mercy follow you, and those whom you
love and those whom you pray for, all the days of your life.May the Lord bless you and keep you.
The Lord make His face to shine on you
and be gracious to you.
The Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace.I bless you in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
This is a blessing I wrote when I was a curate at Saint Chad’s, Handforth (Chester Diocese 1997-2001). I’m not sure of the occasion, but it may have been for my final service there on 4 March 2001. I’ve used it a few times over the years but adapted it for my final service at Emmanuel, Billericay on 26 November 2023.
