I am delighted to welcome the High Voltage Big Band for our annual ‘Gig in the Garden’ 2015.  I first heard the band at the annual Billericay Civic Service was ‘blown’ away by them and knew they would be a brilliant addition to some of the great acts we’ve enjoyed over the years.

The High Voltage Big Band are Billericay based and is made up of around 26 musicians and 2 singers.  Although they draw together many talented and long-serving musicians, mainly from Drum Corps backgrounds in the Essex area, they will not be marching around the garden!  Under the influence of musical director, Steve Lees (who has been involved for over 30 years,  in playing, writing and conducting) they have a wide repertoire and will  entertain us with an evening of great jazz, blues and swing to rock and pop with something for everyone and a few surprises along the way.

Then, just for fun, we’re going to finish with a ‘Last Night of the Prom’s’ finale – so you’ll need to bring your Union Jack’s, bunting etc.  We’ll make sure we’ll have the lyrics printed so everyone can sing along – be sure to bring a torch with you!

Numbers are limited, and I have a feeling this will be a sell out, so be sure to book your tickets, by contacting Paul on paul@billericaychurches.org 01277 658055 or by sending a SAE to: The Rectory, 40, Laindon Road, Billericay, CM12 9LD, with cheques made payable to Emmanuel DCC. As in previous years, tickets will be £5 (under 12’s free).  All proceeds will go to a charitable cause (TBC).

The annual ‘Gig in the Garden’ takes place on Saturday 18 July 2015.  Gates will open from 18.00 and gig starts at 19.00 – don’t forget to bring a picnic, drinks (no tables) something to sit on (chair/blanket) something warm to wear, a torch and a Union Jack to wave!! You can park in Emmanuel car park and in the case of inclement weather the ‘gig’ will be held in Emmanuel.
