There’s no doubt Holy Week at Emmanuel will be different this year and we’re all going to have to put a little more effort into this week to make it work. These are some of the events which are taking place:
PALM SUNDAY We will ‘livestream’ again on Sunday 5 April 2020 at 10.30 am and this his will be on the Emmanuel Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/EmmanuelChurchBillericay/ Over 250 service sheets were downloaded from my website and we have over 700 views so it proves that people are wanting to participate in this kind of event. Can I encourage you to host a Facebook Watch Party which ripples the broadcast into your friendship groups.
HOLY WEEK Sue Oakley and Stephen Dray from Emmanuel have put together some resources for daily prayer, reading and reflection during Holy Week. You can download these here Passiontide-Daily-Prayer
MAUNDY THURSDAY I’m hoping many of you will continue the tradition of following the Liturgy for the Maundy Thursday Agape Meals, whether on your own, as a couple or as a family, as we have done for many years across the parish. Perhaps Home Groups could link together via phones or Zoom or similar to share the readings together. It is my intention to ‘livestream’ the service of Holy Communion from 9.00 pm (going live at 8.45 pm) which will include all that is on the service sheet – worship (not live) sermon, and the Communion Liturgy. I want to invite all of you to have bread and wine available so we can join in this act of Communion together. Service sheets can be downloaded here

GOOD FRIDAY There will be a service of meditation for personal reflection on this website from 12.00 noon on Good Friday. This will be self led, but includes liturgy, songs and Bible Readings. It should take you about 45 mins.
THE PASSION OF JESUS Will be available on Facebook at 3.00 pm on Good Friday. Whilst not a livestream, it includes pre-recorded clips of rehearsals from the Passion Play 2020, clips and interviews from the other cities and towns taking part in the One Good Friday 2020 project.
MESSY EASTER There will be a webpage with craft activities along with an act of worship for Messy Church families. This will be available on 11.00 am on Holy Saturday. In preparation for this, you might want to download a list of the Items You Will Need For Messy Easter!
EASTER GARDENS Sue Oakley writes: I challenge you to make your front gardens into an Easter garden, simply or as complex as you are inspired to do. I came up with the simple idea of putting up three bamboo cane crosses in the front garden, adding red ribbons at 3 pm on Friday, a lighted candle for the Easter vigil and balloons on Easter morning. I think this would be a great way to spread the Easter message and some cheer for all those out walking over the Easter weekend which looks like it will be warm and sunny.
EASTER SUNDAY We are planning another ‘livestream Act of Worship from The Rectory
HOLY WEEK AT HOME These recourses are available on the Chelmsford Diocesan website
