STOP PRESS: 28 October 2020
There will be only ONE service at 3.00 pm. We only had 9 people wanting to attend the 5.00 pm service and so we’re asking those to attend the 3.00 pm service instead.  Please pray for those families who will be attending and for Paul, as he preaches, and Margaret and Rupert as they lead this service.

Our Annual Memorial Services are to take place on Sunday November 2020 at Emmanuel Church, Laindon Road at 3.00 pm and 5.00 pm.

Numbers at services in church on a Sunday are not limited in the way funerals are – though we do have an upper limit – which is why we are inviting you to attend either the 3.00 pm or 5.00 pm service.

I know, from personal experience, how difficult it has been to say goodbye to our loves ones these past several months because of the restriction of numbers at funerals as a result of COVID 19. Our Memorial Service is possibly more needed now than ever before.

These services will provide you, and your family, the opportunity to remember those you have lost, and it is a reminder of the hope, peace and comfort God promises to give us in, and through, sad and difficult times in our lives. We’ve certainly had our fair share of those this year.

These services will, as in the past, be of a traditional style, with the wearing of Robes, helpful liturgy and listening (not singing, unfortunately) to hymns and songs. We will read out the names of those whose funerals have taken place in recent years, in which myself, Margaret, Linda, and other ministers, have had the privilege to be involved.

Please let us know if you are able to join with us by returning the slip below – and be sure to write down the names of your loved ones, along with any additional people you’d like to be remembered. Alternatively, you can contact Sue Oakley, who is coordinating our responses, and she can register your details for the service of your choice: 07759 943336 or

Do remember that, in order to comply with government guidelines, Face Masks are to be worn whilst on church premises and the ‘rule of six’ still applies. Unfortunately, because of COVID 19 restrictions, we are unable to arrange for a flower display on the day, nor are we allowed to provide refreshments afterwards. For your safety, and peace of mind, we have COVID 19 safeguards in place.

If you have any queries, or if we can be of any assistance in any other way, please do not hesitate to contact myself, Sue, Margaret or Rupert.

With every blessing in Jesus’ precious name,

Revd Paul A. Carr
